METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Description of Dataset
This dataset contains historical downstream water quality monitoring data associated with the effluent discharge point of the Glaslough Integrated Constructed Wetland (ICW) collected between 2010 and 2025.

The monitoring programme formed part of routine wastewater operational and environmental monitoring undertaken by Uisce Éireann. The dataset was subsequently compiled, cleaned, processed, and analysed for academic research purposes at Cranfield University.

The dataset represents downstream receiving water quality conditions influenced by treated wastewater discharge from the integrated constructed wetland system.

Description of Data Collection
Samples were collected from designated downstream monitoring locations associated with the treated effluent discharge point using routine environmental and wastewater monitoring procedures.

Monitoring data include parameters associated with:

* Receiving water quality
* Nutrient concentrations
* Organic matter concentrations
* Suspended solids
* Nitrogen species
* Phosphorus concentrations
* pH

Analytical Methods
Water quality analyses were undertaken using standard wastewater and environmental analytical procedures and accredited laboratory methods where applicable.

Parameters represented within the dataset may include:

* Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD)
* Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)
* Total Suspended Solids (TSS)
* Total Phosphorus (TP)
* Orthophosphate Phosphorus (Ortho-P)
* Total Nitrogen (TN)
* Ammonium Nitrogen (NH4-N)
* Nitrate Nitrogen (NO3-N)
* pH

Experimental Conditions
The dataset represents real-world operational monitoring data collected under varying hydraulic, seasonal, environmental, and wastewater loading conditions associated with the municipal wastewater treatment wetland system and receiving water environment.

Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)

* Sampling and laboratory analyses were undertaken as part of routine wastewater and environmental monitoring procedures.
* Analytical QA/QC procedures associated with the original monitoring programme were undertaken by Uisce Éireann and associated laboratories.
* Data cleaning and formatting were undertaken prior to academic analysis.
* Missing or unavailable measurements were retained as blank cells where applicable.

SHARING AND ACCESS INFORMATION

License and Restrictions
The original monitoring data were provided by Uisce Éireann for academic research purposes. Users should acknowledge both Uisce Éireann and Cranfield University where appropriate.

Some data may remain subject to third-party ownership or institutional sharing restrictions.

Associated Publications
This dataset contributes to ongoing PhD research examining nutrient dynamics, treatment wetland performance, receiving water interactions, and long-term compliance behaviour in integrated constructed wetlands.
